ESOL – ENGLISH FOR SPEAKERS OF OTHER LANGUAGES
Kia Ora and Warm Pacific Greetings,
At Three Kings School we support many of our bilingual and multilingual students who come from diverse backgrounds and may need English Language support (these include our NZ Born Pacific Island students). We have an ESOL Team that consists of the ESOL Teacher (Abby Harris), ESOL Teacher Aide (Jasmine Chen) and the ESOL Leader (Marisa Webster) who advise and support teachers planning for students who are English Language Learners of English. Depending on the children’s needs we also support our ESOL students with extra language support classes.
We provide a rich literacy programme to develop student’s English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing and use a wide range of activities as well as digital technology to support their learning.
We encourage our ESOL students to take part in all activities e.g. Clubs, Sports, Swimming etc. Our aim is for all students to be inclusive and succeed.
To maximise our support for your child, please advise the office on enrolment of any different languages he/she speaks at home other than English (Refer to the Enrolment form section about other languages spoken at home).
We have an ‘open-door’ policy for parents to ask questions about their child. We also provide school notices on ‘Hail’ that are translated in different languages.
