Welcome to Three Kings School Learning Community.
We look forward to another busy and exciting school year. On 6th April 2018, Three Kings School celebrated 140 years of rich heritage. The school was open for past pupils and families to visit. We had an amazing time catching up with past students, families and staff.
Three Kings School first opened in 1878 as Mt Roskill District School. Over the past 139 years the school has continued to be a key focus of the local and surrounding area.
Past students over the decades have contributed significantly as New Zealand citizens in many ways, some representing our country as leaders in government, sports and business innovation.
Staff, students and families take pride in the school’s beautiful park like grounds. The nearby Three Kings Reserve and Monte Cecilia Parks, provide a wonderful asset for school sports and community events.
The school caters for students from 5 years to 11 years old.
Our long standing mission has been to provide a learning community which promotes a culture of inclusion, partnership, respect and celebration of student achievement.
Together staff, board of trustees and families seek to grow confident, well balanced, resilient and connected, life-long learners, in a caring and nurturing environment.
We provide access to quality programmes, that enable children to acquire the skills to think creatively, critically, solve problems and set goals for learning. Our students are eager learners and encouraged to take as many opportunities as they.
Through all levels of the school we encourage our students to become effective self-managers of their own learning, able to self-regulate and take responsibility for their own learning and behaviour.
Values of respect, honesty and positive involvement are endorsed across the learning community, as essential values for living and contribution to our local and wider community. See the recent ERO report.
I have had the privilege of being the principal for the past fifteen years and have had the joy and pleasure of getting to know so many wonderful, talented and delightful students and families. Some families have second and third generation children attending the school.
The board of trustees area professional group of trustees who have always had the children at the centre of their attention. The key role of the board of trustees is to provide governance and direction through policy and strategic direction. The next decade will see significant growth in roll and school capacity, due to the planned Fletcher Ltd quarry development and Housing New Zealand developments in the area.
